Tanja Berlin Florida Tour 2018

The Sandhill Crane and Sarasota chapters have invited Tanja Berlin  to teach two
workshops in February and March of 2018.

duClay Chapter will host Betsy Morgan in February

 

duClay Chapter is pleased to host a class with Betsy Morgan on Sat & Sun Feb 24/ 25th 2018.  The class will be held in Jacksonville – tentative location Mandarin Masonic Lodge which is easy access to I 95/I 295 and SR 13.  There are several hotels in the area.

The project will be her newest design Swan Bower.

 

 

The kit will include all of the supplies needed to complete the design – 32 count linen, silk Dupioni lining, interfacings, comic board, skirtex, Gloriana silk floss in 8 colors, DMC pearl cotton, needles, pins, charm, thread waxer, wool felt, full color charts and thorough instructions.

Betsy has unique and interesting finishing tips so don’t miss this class!

There will be pre-stitching so please sign up ASAP.  Price for duClay members $250 + lunches – non EGA members $300.  Please join us and pay a $50 non-refundable deposit now to hold your spot.

Gulfview Chapter Announces a Silk-Dyeing Workshop!

Gulfview Chapter has scheduled a “silk dye” workshop for Wednesday, November 8, 2017. The three hour event will start at 11:00 a.m.at the Veterans Memorial Park in Hudson, Florida.

Marlene Glickman’s workshop was one of the features at the Mt. Dora Seminar in April, 2017.

This workshop is open to all EGA members as well as friends.  The workshop will cost $40 

The workshop includes dyeing 2 silk scarves using the instant setting, non-toxic Color Hue dyes. A variety of techniques in and outside the baggie will be demonstrated and with students choosing the techniques they want to explore: floral images, zebra stripes and sunset lines, stencils, clamps and sticks or shapes, repeat shibori lines, stamps, growing trees and more.

Neapolitan Chapter Announces a Betsy Morgan Workshop!

Betsy Morgan - Edinburgh Etui

Betsy Morgan’s Edinburgh Etui box has two compartments — one in the top section with the
swags and tassels and the other and larger one in the bottom section with the crown and
branches. The branches are adorned with Tudor roses, thistles, and shamrocks, all of which
are worked in surface embroidery. However, the kit will also contain charts to work those motifs
in counted thread. The box is lined with a green/aqua two-way silk dupioni and the lid has a
turned wooden thistle finial as its handle.

The smalls are a folding needle purse with bead and loop closure, a scissor fob on a tasseled
cord, a crown thimble box and a pin pillow with beaded edges and beaded cord. The back of
the pin pillow is embroidered in a tartan plaid and embellished with a silver thistle charm. The
finial and charm are included in the kit.

Sign-up continues for this class to be taught on Monday and Tuesday, February 19 and 20,
2018. Class fees, which include the full kit, the teacher’s fee and travel expenses, are as
follows:
Neapolitan Chapter Members — $195
Non-Chapter Members — $225
A non-refundable deposit of $87.50 will hold your place in class.

“Undulations 2” GCC — Indian River Chapter

Undulations 2 - GCC - Gail StaffordThe Indian River chapter is offering Group Correspondence Course, Undulations II, designed by Gail Stafford starting in October of this year

This is a brand-new GCC that premiered in the Education Supplement that accompanied the June issue of Needle Arts

The cost to take this GCC will be $62.

“Circle with Blue Flower” GCC — Suwannee Stitchers Chapter

The Suwannee Stitchers chapter will be offering  Circle With Blue Flower, a Group Correspondence Course designed by Margaret Kinsey.

This is a beginning silk-and-metal thread course.
